A tired black brute approached a roomy cave. He had been walking for a long time, and the sight of it was inviting. Besides, he didn't smell any wolves. Come to think of it, he hadn't scented any wolves in a while. Still, there was something unnerving about the place. A den without a pack? That's odd. Thought a confused Shadow. He walked cautiously into it. He had a sudden mental image of a secure little den, and a female dog with a snowshoe hare in her maw. His mother! He did often wish for a pack of his own... His thoughts jerked back to the present. Focus Shadow. You're in a cave you've never been in, in a territory you aren't familiar with. Be alert! He told himself with a determined shake of his head. Still, the thought of a safe night in a warm den he didn't need to fight for was appealing. Maybe he'd just wait to see if another wolf came. He curled up in a dark corner, and rested his sore muscles. He stayed awake, but just barely.

[ X.x.X ]
[ A tall lean White Mackenzie River Wolf leaped snarling in front of the 'intruder'. Her piercing pale blue stare penetrating through the eyes of the new male. Glistening white ivories bared sharply at the male. Hackles raised; fur bristling; ears pressed firm against her cranium with her banner held high. She wasn't going to let some male step into Her Turf.. even though she hadn't claimed it herself. Echo had pretty much claimed this place as her own.. even though she hadn't given an official claim. A throaty growl erupted form within her.. in cold sharp words... ]
[ " Back Off Stranger... " ]
[ She snapped; stepping towards the male; shoving all of her 119 pounds towards him; dispite her skeleton-like frame from mal-nourishment , her remaining weight was well carved muscles that barely kept her alive. Echo snapped her jaws at the male; acting as if she were a mother protecting a recent litter of Whelps. Even though she hadn't whelped a pup in her lifetime. ]

OCC: Maybe Echo could be the alpha female, and Shadow could be the alpha male.
Shadow jumped up at the white female's voice. She looked mad, and he didn't want to be caught in a territory dispute. At the same time, he was tired, and he didn't want to give up his bed so easily. "Are you the alphess here? I scented no wolf in this territory, and I wanted to spend the night," His tone was formal, but had a slight edge. She was thin, and didn't look like she'd fight so well if it came to such measures. He raised his head defiantly and met her ice blue glare with his own cool green. Attack if you will, but this time I will not run. He thought coldly.

Echo snarled warningly; she may be thin; but she still packs a mean bite. She snapped at the male warningly; Echo wasn't one for males; you couldn't trust them.. no matter how kind they seemed they were all love hungry perverts.
" Not exactly.. "
She snapped; noting how she had not given an official claim to this place.

A loner she-wolf ordering him around? He growled softly, and shifted into a defensive stance. "In that case, you have no business telling me if I can or can't stay," his voice had lost any friendliness it ever had. He narrowed his eyes coldly. This fae needed to be taught a lesson. At the same time, he was impressed with her bravery. Then again, he did understand the desire to defend a territory, even if one did not truly own it. He forced himself back into a more respectful sitting position. "Still, it is no reason to fight. There is room for both of us here." His voice was level again.

Echo snapped again; not liking his tone. She may be in a weak state; but she could sure as hell still kick his ass; whether he believed her or not. Echo was more than Capable of Whipping some Mutt's Behind. But then his voice softened again; he was now suggesting that they both stay here? What.. no way.. She had had too many bad experiences with Males.. one nearly costing her.. a Litter. Echo shook the thought from her mind... but.. even if he tried.. she could still handle him.. couldn't she? Now that she could see him; with anger leaving her muzzle.. she could make out a handsome well sculptured frame.. she would look like that too.. if she had eaten anything.. Echo got a vibe that he was interested... in her. But she could be wrong... he might be nice.. but. Who? Ugh.. Nevermind.. She was going to play hard to get.
" Why would I want to do such a Thing? "

Shadow wanted to howl in frustration. Why did she seem so intent on starting a fight? She didn't even claim the place! How could he know she was there? Most of all, why did he want to help this skinny, unknown female with the whitish pelt? She might be pretty, if she wasn't so thin, and if her fur was thick and healthy, but she still was a complete stranger. "If you stay here, I promise not to hurt you. If you leave, I'm not sure any other alphas would say the same," he pointed out. Not that you actually would believe any promises I'd make. He added silently. This conversation probably wouldn't lead anywhere good, so he might as well introduce himself. "Um, I'm Shadow. May I ask what your name is?" He decided it might be safer to keep his tone as polite and friendly as possible.

Echo brought her tone down; and let her muscles relax a bit. He did seem awfully polite.. and considerate. Sighing as he introduced himself as Shadow; Echo rolled her eyes at herself and decided to introduce herself.
" Echo... Nice Too meet You Sh-Shadow. " [/blockquote][/size]

She actually didn't try to argue! Maybe this Echo just needed to have him be nice. He still was curious about one thing. "Wait, if you and I are the only ones here, who's the alpha?" Maybe they would be the alphas. They had nowhere else to go. Besides, she had already shown that she would fight to defend the territory. He liked her. She was proud, and didn't seem to back down from anything. They might end up being friends after all.

Echo stopped and thought for a moment; Yes.. Who would be Alpha. Echo didn't trust him enough for them both to be alphas; considering they had just met. Hmm..
" I guess we'll have to fight for it.. "
She grinned; her expression reading.. ' Unless You have another way of solving it? '

Fighting again. Why did she always want to fight? "Do you want to fight?" he asked. "Maybe we don't need to fight right now." He had an idea. He didn't know if it would work, but he wanted to try it. They definitely couldn't both be alphas, but that didn't mean they couldn't both be in charge of the territory. He would just have to wait for her. If fighting was the only way, fine. He just hoped it wouldn't need to come to fighting. Echo seemed to be his weakness. He had just met her, and already she completely baffled him.

In Young Echo's lifetime; the little fae had learned one.. important thing. Never... absolutely Never.. Trust a male. They all are mind-less; perverted; power hungry; sex driven morons who want nothing truly out of you. They either want to fight.. or they are looking for a little play mate so they can have their fun. They're all like that.. in Echo's eyes. It's actually sad though; her thoughts of males. But true... she's been raped once.. but un successfully the male did not impregnate her. But there were several other times when some did attempt to rape her; and kill her when she would not cooperate. Echo had lost all trust with males; as much as she wanted to trust this one... she couldn't. She could try.. but what could he do to break through her wall and gain her trust? She didn't know... but he was being so kind... Echo just wasn't used to this treatment. She kept expecting a fight.. but her never gave in. What was with this one.?
" I'm.. I'm Sorry.. I've J-Just.. never met a Male who didn't want to fight me.. or rape me. This is completely new to me.. "

OOC: Sorry, was on vacation. I brought my laptop, but there was no internet connection.
Shadow's eyes narrowed in anger and there was a noticeable tension in his muscled body. "I am sorry. I've met that kind before, and I'm sorry that you have had the misfortune of being one of their playthings," his voice was full of disgust and anger. He hated those males more than anything. Echo was young, good looking, and might have been hungry for some time. She was an ideal target for some male who raped every female he came across. Somehow, this made him even more willing to help Echo. He wanted her to understand that he wasn't like that. "Please believe me when I say that I would never do that. It's possible that I hate those who do it just as much as you."
